Former Philippine Volcanoes rugby player Paulo Jordan is committing to spread the gospel of rugby in the Philippines with his new sports brand, La Liga.
Jordan said in his launch event last Tuesday in Pacific Plaza in BGC that the name is inspired by La Liga Filipina, the civic movement of Jose Rizal.
La Liga will have a line of sportswear as well as a rugby academy. Jordan has already taught rugby in places such as Miriam school as well as in provincial areas like Bacolod and Davao. At the media launch was Lady Volcano Ada Milby, head of development at the Philippine Rugby Football Union.
Jordan, who grew up in Japan and Singapore, also plans music events and other activities under the La Liga brand.
La Liga’s motto is “play for the sport, not for the prize,” and Jordan says he dreams that one day Rugby will be the national sport of the Philippines.
